THE MUSEUM OF FAUBOURG - HERMES HONG KONG & MACAU, WINTER 2024
Inside Faubourg, you'll discover a collection of exquisitely crafted products that resemble art. The shop is adorned with artwork, beautiful displays, mosaic flooring, and stunning railing patterns. Stepping into Faubourg feels like entering an art museum. Inspired by this, I envision transforming the windows into a traditional art museum setting, infused with a playful touch and hints of Faubourg's unique flair. Products will be showcased alongside paintings in classic frames and statues on pillars.
To capture a whimsical style reminiscent of Hermes, some paintings will appear to flow out from their frames and random Hermes objects as statues that create an engaging and fun visual experience.
ROOM OF PORTRAIT & STILL LIFE
Welcome to the Portrait and Still Life section of the museum. Here, traditional still-life elements such as everyday items, fruits, and flowers are closely placed next to each other but interact and come to life, stepping out of their frames to engage with the audience. For instance, a horse steals an apple from a painting below, a Greek statue reaches for a glass of wine from another painting, and a pigeon pulls a cloth out of the artwork. These dynamic scenes blur the lines between reality and art, creating an immersive experience.
THE 19THCENTURY HUNTING SCENE PAINTING
This exhibit features a deconstructed classic 19th-century oil painting depicting an upper-class lady on a hunting trip. At the center, the original scene shows a majestic horse on a beautiful day. However, elements of the painting are breaking free: the landscape is sliding out, the beagle becomes an art viewer, and the rider has transformed into a statue and holding a rein that connects to a cloud. Even a goose has escaped, carrying a cloud away. This surrealistic composition invites viewers to step into a surreal world where the boundaries of the painting dissolve.
HALL OF SCULPTURES
In the Hall of Sculptures, inspiration is drawn from Roman statues and Parisian elements, particularly from Faubourg. Here, traditional forms are infused with whimsical twists. A lemon tree and a cupid statue by Etienne Maurice Falconet evoke the charm of a Faubourg garden. Additionally, a traditional horse statue playfully carries a baguette on its hoof, blending classical art with a touch of Parisian flair. This section combines historical elegance with lighthearted creativity, offering a refreshing perspective on sculptural art.
